Canvas SSO Integration

ScootPad offers an out-of-the-box integration to enable Single Sign On (SSO) with Canvas. Using this SSO capability, users can seamlessly launch ScootPad from within Canvas without needing to enter/remember another set of UserID/Password.

To get started with Canvas integration, please follow the steps below:  

1) Enable the ScootPad App on Canvas:

a) Install ScootPad App following these steps: https://guides.instructure.com/m/4214/l/121961-how-do-i-use-the-app-center-in-an-account
b) Add and Publish ScootPad for your students following these steps: https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-2732
c) If you are an administrator for your school/district in Canvas, you can install and publish ScootPad for all your teachers, courses and students following these steps: https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-3026 
TIP: Ensure when setting ScootPad up in an assignment or module that you check the box to load in a new tab.

2) One-time Account Set Up:


Administrators - Follow these steps:
1. Sign in to your Canvas account
2. Launch the ScootPad app and you will be prompted with two options:
    Option 1: Create a brand new ScootPad Account; or
    Option 2: Link to your existing ScootPad Account (enter your ScootPad Username / Password)
3. New Admin requests are sent to our team to be verified (within 24 hours)
4. We will review and approve your account, then inform you once it has been approved

Teachers - Follow these steps:
1. Sign in to your Canvas account
2. Launch the ScootPad app and you will be prompted with two options:  
    Option 1: Create a brand new ScootPad Account; or
    Option 2: Link to your existing ScootPad Account (enter your ScootPad Username / Password)
3. Select your school (If not already done) - by searching schools by name or city. 
4. Create your classroom (if not already done) - Share your unique class code with your students to self-enroll
5. Ask students to follow the steps below to self-enroll into your classroom from Canvas

Students - Follow these steps:
1. Sign in to your Canvas account
2. Launch the ScootPad app and you will be prompted with two options:  
    Option 1: Create a brand new ScootPad Account; or
    Option 2: Link your existing ScootPad Account (enter your ScootPad UserID / Password)
3. Enroll in your classroom using the class code given to you by your teacher

3) Launch ScootPad from Canvas going forward as follows:

  1. Log into Canvas
  2. Launch the ScootPad app
  3. You will be taken directly to your ScootPad dashboard
*The above steps are our recommended method to integrate ScootPad with Canvas.  If you wish to integrate with Canvas by adding ScootPad as an external app using LTI (Not Recommended), please contact us.
