How can we improve ScootPad?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Spelling Words

    I would love to be able to hit the tab button when entering my spelling words for the week instead of having to click onto each box separately. Just a thought! :) Keep up the great work, guys! This first grade teacher is hooked!!

    Hi all,

    In the spelling section of the platform, you can paste your words in right from a csv file. This makes it super easy to make an assignment and view student progress ;)

  3. In the activity report, show the number of practices assigned as well as the number of practices completed.

    The activity report already shows how many practices a student has completed, but I would also like to know how many practices were assigned on the same report. This way, I can help students stay on track to complete all assignments by their due date.

  4. Update the look of Scootpad

    Change the look of Scootpad so that it doesn't look childish to a middle or high school student working well below grade level.

  5. Improve Read Aloud Audio

    I am struggling to use Scootpad with my kindergarten students because they are pre-readers and the voice on the read aloud is so automated that they have a difficult time understanding the questions when they are read aloud. Also, some of the questions do not lend themselves to being independently asked on an ipad, for example if it wants them to sound something out. I feel bad about this because my district paid for it and I feel I cannot use it.

  6. Customizable leaderboard

    I would like to have my students see only the top 10 (or some other customizable number) students on the leaderboard, along with their own ranking. I want them to be motivated to reach the top, but not humiliated that everyone will see their name at the bottom.

  7. Allow parents to lock access to ScootPad features

    Enable parents to be able to lock access to ScootPad features, like teachers can. We would like to be able to disable the ability for our child to spend coins on games and wallpapers, for example.

  9. Capability to assign review concepts directly from ASSESSMENT area

    From the Assessments Reports, for those with Ultra Premium accounts, make it possible to assign the standards to students who need it directly from an assessment report (currently only in PDF). What I do now is that I write a list of students who need to learn a concept and then go to another area to assign. Unless that is already available and I haven't seen it within the assessment piece!

    Teachers can assign a Concept Improvement assignment directly to the student from the Assessments page. Go to Math/ELA and then click actions>>>Review. You can drill down by student and assign a concept improvement.

  10. Reset a concept and start over

    It would be good to be able to reset any individual concept from a learning path unit so the student can start over. Once they have attempted a certain number of questions incorrectly, it can get very difficult for them to reach the set pass rate percentage.
    If I teach the concept all over again I'd like to reset the concept so it is less demotivating and they can gain a proficient score more rapidly.

    Hi all,

    In 2.0, student scores are no longer the typical average but a decaying average which places more weight on the latest score. Thanks for your patience and great suggestions. We really appreciate it!

  11. Voice options

    Have an option for male or female voice for spelling. Sometimes it is difficult to understand.

  12. Custom Classroom set up for clubs and afterschool activities

    I would like to be able to set up a classroom and choose what subjects to include in the dashboard. An afterschool club would use the class wall for planning and discussion but would not need ELA, Math etc)

    Also have an option to set up a customized section, where we could add our own learning path (like for social studies)

    Hi there,

    Thanks for being a trooper! As we start the new school year all teachers should create brand new classrooms. This will allow you to see the new teacher wizard where you can choose the subjects on the students’ dashboard. Thanks for the suggestion! Stay tuned for more on this in the future!

  15. Allow parents the option to print an assignment.

    It may seem counter-productive, but as a parent, I would like the option to print an assignment so that I can help my child with concepts that she may not have yet mastered. It is very difficult to help with Math trying to read the computer screen. It is also difficult, and distracting, for my child, to try to use the scratch pad; so we do the work on paper.

    Parents can print work their students have completed by logging into their students account. Go to Math/ELA and then assignments/assessments and click the blue magnifying glass to view/print the completed work.

  16. Students should be able to continue practicing their math facts after they get 100% not be locked out of the modul.

    Guess what?

    A feature you (or your teachers) requested is LIVE!  We will officially release it on Monday, November 19th but wanted to share this with you today :)  Go to Math>Fact fluency. Choose the specific students you want to reset and click the reset button. Follow the prompts and you are good to go!

    Good News! Teachers have the ability to set up recurring assignments, weekly or monthly. You will notice the additional setting while on step 3 of creating an assignment, below Start/Due date. You can also copy old assignments by click actions>>>copy on the assignments page.

  18. Selecting questions for Assessments

    I would like to be able to see the question bank and pick the questions for my assignment and assessments, not just the question type.

    You can assign Concept Improvement assignments from the Intervention page and the By Standard page within Mastery Reports. These Concept Improvement assignments recognizes the concepts students are struggling and will provide students with extra practice accordingly.

  20. Report Containing Both Math and ELA Progress

    I would love to be able to print out a report that contains BOTH Math and ELA progress, rather than print each report individually.
